Event Connexion (“we”, “us”) runs eventconnexion.co.zw, a free events listings guide for Zimbabwe. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

We collect different information depending on how you use the site:

• Browsing the site. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records anonymised usage data — pages viewed, general location, device type — to help us understand what's popular. Nothing is collected here until you say yes; see “Cookies” below.
• Submitting an event (via the form or the Snorks chat widget). We collect the event details you give us, plus your name, email, phone number if you give it, and any poster image you upload. We also keep a technical anti-abuse marker (a hashed version of your IP address, not the address itself) to catch spam submissions.
• Chatting with Snorks. We keep a log of the conversation — what you typed and what Snorks replied — whether or not it ends in a submission, so we can review how the assistant is performing. These logs are only visible to site admins.
• Signing in as an admin. Admin accounts use an email and password via our database provider (Supabase) and a session cookie to stay signed in. This only applies to our own staff, not visitors.

Cookies

We use two kinds of cookies:

• Essential cookies — needed for the site to work (for example, keeping an admin signed in). These are always on and can't be switched off here, though you can block them in your browser settings at the cost of some features not working.
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — only set if you click “Accept all” on the cookie banner. You can decline these, or change your mind later by clearing your browser's site data for eventconnexion.co.zw, which brings the banner back.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. A few service providers process it on our behalf, to run the site:

• Supabase — hosts our database and uploaded images.
• Vercel — hosts the website itself.
• Anthropic — powers the Snorks chat assistant; your chat messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate replies.
• Google Analytics — only if you've accepted analytics cookies.

If you submit an event with a contact email or phone number, that information is only used to reach you about that submission — never published alongside the public listing, and never passed to third parties for marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep submission and chat records for as long as needed to run the site and resolve any issues with a listing. You can ask us to delete your information at any time — see “Your rights” below.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email our events inbox and we'll sort it out.

Children's privacy

Event Connexion isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. We'll update the date at the top when we do — check back occasionally if you want to stay current.
